Safety

Meeting people you don’t know yet.

What Happenous does to make meeting safer, and what it doesn’t. A two-minute read before your first Activity.

If you’re in danger, call 112. Happenous can’t send help. Get somewhere safe, then report it in the app.

Your meeting point stays private.

The exact meeting point is never public, and our servers enforce it.

  1. Before you’re accepted An approximate area

Until you’re accepted, you see an area about 3 km across.

  2. Once you’re in the Crew The exact point, for the Crew

Only the Host and accepted Crew see the meeting point.

  3. If you leave Hidden again, straight away

Leave the Crew and the meeting point is hidden again.

  4. Always Nobody sees where you are

No live location, and photos lose their location on upload.

Who gets in, and who came.

A specific plan, a Host who decides who comes, and a record of who turned up.

  1. Around one Activity

You meet to do one thing, at a stated time and place.

  2. The Host approves the Crew

The Host accepts, declines or waitlists every request.

  3. Check-in records who came

Each person enters the Host’s code at the meeting point.

  4. Reviews only from people who were there

Only people who both checked in can review each other. Private notes go to our safety team only.

Meet in public

Before you go.

Ordinary good sense, with the app’s help.

  • Meet in a public place

A park gate, a café, a ground. Never someone’s home.

  • Read the whole Activity

The level, the cost in ₹, what to bring, the house rules.

  • Look at the Host’s profile

What they’ve hosted, and reviews from people who turned up.

  • You can always leave

No reason needed, and it never counts against you.

On the day: Activity Mode.

From an hour before, the meeting point, Crew chat and safety tools sit on one screen.

  • Share my plan

Send the plan to someone you trust, from your own phone.

  • Running late

Tell the Crew how far away you are, in one tap.

  • Can’t find the group

Let the Host know you’re there and looking.

  • Safety

Report, leave, or call 112 from the same screen.

Who can reach you.

Strangers can’t message you, nobody sees your phone number, and Nearby Buddies is yours to step out of.

  • Chat only where you’ve agreed to it

Your Crew’s chat, which closes a day after, and your Buddies.

  • Your number stays yours

Your phone number and email are never shown to anyone.

  • You choose who sees your profile

Public, Buddies only, or private. Change it any time in Settings.

  • Pause Nearby Buddies

For an hour, three hours or the rest of the day. Nobody sees you, and your position is deleted.

  • Hide from one Buddy

Neither of you sees the other in the water, and they aren’t told. Undo it in Settings.

  • Bumps go quiet

After three bumps you haven’t answered, your phone stops buzzing for the next ones.

Blocking and reporting.

From any profile, Activity, message, Moment or comment.

  • A block works both ways

You disappear from each other: search, messages, requests and Moments.

  • Reports are read by people

Our safety team acts on them, and records a reason for every action.

  • Nobody is told who reported

We don’t share outcomes either. Timings and appeals

Adults only

Happenous is for people 18 and over. We ask your date of birth before you join or host, and delete any account that belongs to someone younger.

The Host Code

Every Host accepts it before they can publish an Activity.

  1. Describe the Activity truthfully.
  2. Say clearly what it costs.
  3. Use the agreed meeting point.
  4. Look after your Crew until the Activity ends.
  5. Respect anyone who leaves.
  6. No surprise guests — only the Crew you accepted.
  7. Follow the safety requirements for your category.

Once the Activity ends, the Host is no longer responsible for the Crew. From then on, everyone is responsible for their own decisions.

What Happenous doesn’t check

We don’t verify identities, run background checks or give trust ratings. Reviews describe what happened before, not what will happen next. Meet in public, tell someone where you’re going, and leave if anything feels wrong.
